Hell everyone,

I've owned +20 cars during 17yrs of driving... and as this is my 1st Seat, so far so good!

Changing from a BMW 523i M Touring (100,000 miles) was always going to be a challenge.
However, my Ateca has risen to the challenge with both grace and style.

I did the usual tiresome circuit of dealers in and around Surrey & Hampshire, plumping to chose my pride and joy from Harry at SMC in Aldershot. With a great PX price agreed, I drove away with a; 2017 8,500mile Ateca Xcellance 2.0 TDI 190HP DSG with a plethora of toys, including the insanely loud Seat Sound System.

I've had it 3wks now and clearly i'm still in the honeymoon learning phase. Although the instruction manual is useful and the YouTube tutorials are great, nothing beats the Tips & Tricks i'm gleaning from this wonderful forum ;)

The only two flies in the proverbial have been; the glovebox springing open over every sped-hump (fixed by Harry in 1 brief visit), and the hands-free repeatedly mistaking my voice commands and calling the wrong Caroline in my directory (not my wife!) and causing no end of confusing conversations :D   i've since changed Carolines name (in my directory) to her nickname and solved the problem...

Yes the 19" alloys look rather nice offsetting the white paintwork, however, they do twitch somewhat over ripples and undulations. This is perfectly acceptable when compared to the crisp handling, sharp turn-in and brisk acceleration... especially from +50mph on motorways    which catches other drivers out most times!

I've added a rear bumper steel protection strip and heavy-duty plastic boot tray (both sourced from Germany, both cheaper that Seat's own offerings and both top quality too) and i'm negotiating with a chap in Poland regarding the rear door sill protectors.

With all that said and done, I'm still pretty nervous about my doors suffering carpark dents... and rather surprised that seemingly no one offers stylish 'door rubbing strakes'. Seats aftermarket side protectors look lovely, but they are positioned way too low to be of any benefit.

Do any of you lovely Seat Ateca owners have any solutions to my potential paintwork dilemma?

(And before you say anything, i've just bought a private plate, so this one is about to become void)
