Re-registering an Ateca in the EU - Lights

Has anyone re-registered a UK Ateca abroad? I am specifically looking at whether the LED headlights would pass a foreign MOT due to beam direction but also whether you've had to also alter the rear fog light so it shines to the NS (UK but obviously becomes OS abroad)

No, not with certain LED lights, some have a flat beam with no raised edge of light at either end. Others have the ability to alter the way the lights shone, either a lever or via the cars electronics. The SEAT ones don't need 'beam benders' for travel abroad but MAY need altering for permanent export.
My old (2001) motorbike had a headlight that you 'twisted' through about 15 degrees to travel abroad, really well thought out. New BMW bikes have the flat beam so do not need altering at all (But bikes don't go thru an MOT in France so a non issue anyway)

Hi All,

The manual for my 2017 model page 136/137 states you don't need to do anything unless the car is more than "temporarily" in a country that is driving on the opposite side of the road than normal.

Thanks Billio, I am actually needing to know regarding a permanent move abroad hence putting 're-registering' so altho for short spells I'd not need to do anything...how will a French MOT man/woman view it. If it means replacing lights with LHD ones it may alter our plans re a vehicle in France

Morning mate!
I am in the RAF and stationed in a NATO base in Mons Belgium. We have to register our cars through the Belgium government whilst we are here. We have to pass their CT (MOT) and all I have done is use the reflective stickers that you can grab from Halfords etc..... passed the light test every year, been here for 4 years, so I think France should be the same!

Many thanks. Apparently it is the same in France BUT despite it being law and people printing out the specific act and instructions and showing them to the CT chap, a decent proportion ignore it and fail the car on its headlight dip. (They are also failing on the rear foglight as it is on the wrong side over there....bugger)
