I've pinched this idea from other car forums I'm signed up to. It seems to work well on them, so thought I'd see if it takes off here too.

The topic can be used for anything and everything Ateca - off topic doesn't live here

Post away people, and I'll join you once ours arrives

I drove mine today...

I washed it - unusual here in Spain in the summer as it almost never rains. However, we had about a 10 minute shower last week and 50% of it seemed to be Sahara dust - very messy! Tried a new idea to dry it off - a cordless leaf blower - worked really well!

Today I dreamed of mine arriving! :)

More seriously, now that I have a fair idea when I can collect mine, I'm planning to meet up with family who live near the garage.

I have not, as yet, got my Ateca, but since I am hoping to retain the car for several years, I have, today, been researching possible preventitive measured to prolong its life. I am having 19" alloys fitted and have heard much chat about Rimblades and Alloygator wheel rim protectors. In ignorance, I contacted a detailer and this is what he said.
"All machine cut alloy wheels are lacquered this lacquer has minute imperfections that makes it porous. So over time these will degrade
If you fit Alloygators or Rimblades, they will offer superior protection from kerbing, however, water may become trapped between the strip and the wheel so may accelerate the degradation.
This means they may need a re lacquer slightly earlier on the other hand the will not be kerbed so will not need the more costly full refurb just a re lacquer"

Anyone tried to fit this rim trim? I am getting the car in Rodium Grey Metallic, so believe that the red will provide a good contrast (remain open-minded), but the detailer's comments have made me hesitate.

Simple answer is don't kerb your alloys ;)

I have the 18" bicolour wheels and with the Bridestone tires there is a significant amount of the tire well out from the rim which would seem to offer similar protection from kerbing.

It's not what I did today. I should have posted this on Sunday. Went to the local pub for lunch and sat outside. Lovely day. Showing off to my other half I showed her how I could open all four windows at once from some distance just by holding the Open button on the fob (useful tip there if you didn't know already). As I could easily see the car (50-60ft away) and it was really hot, I left them fully open. What I failed to notice was that a combine harvester that was earlier about 400 yards away and downwind decided to change course and clear the bit right next to the pub garden. We all ran for cover because we couldn't see or breath with all the dust, straw and general crap in the air. Unfortunately, I forgot that I had left all the car windows open. All I can say is, thank heavens for leather seats. What a total mess. Lesson learned that showing off to other half nearly always backfires  .

Have decided not to fit Alloygators - the detailer, who is going to my car on receipt, says that they look naff after only a short while. Advice from others say that there is sufficient bulge in the tyre to protect the rims anyway. My 4 year old Kuga has not a single mark onthe rims, so perhaps kerbing is not my style.
I think I may have just cursed myself!

Yesterday I cleaned and applied 2 coats of sealant to protect from tree sap and any seagulls that may want to deposit on my paint work
What paint sealant do you use? As I want to get some
I was on holidays for a week and some birds left deposits on the car, thankfully my dad was kind enough to clean it off in my absence as I left the car at my parents place for safe keeping while I was away
