Re: Haldex and DSG oil change

The dealers have been in contact about changing my DSG and haldex, it has only done 37,500m, so I raised the issue of the mileage (they say 40,000m) in the workshop manual, without a response so far! An important question is raised; how can the owner know for sure that the oil has been changed, espe...

Re: Haldex and DSG oil change

I have the 7 speed DSG - I do believe from the workshop manual that the Haldex oil is changed at 40,000m and DSG oil at 72,000m (120,000km). I also understand that the haldex requires no work to the filter, however perhaps later, say at 80-100,000m it may be wise to clean out the mesh filter. I also...

Key Issues

I experienced a flat key battery a couple of years ago and changing the battery worked fine. However, I have had two recent incidents in extremes of cold weather when parked at the Golf Club, coincidentally in the same parking bay, next to our Pro Shop. On the first occasion a few weeks ago the car ...

Re: Oil service and inspection service ?

FYI I had a main service (booked online) at 17000 miles in Nov 18. Last year I enquired as to why they were contacting me about an annual service, as my vehicle is coded ‘long life’, confirmed oddly enough by the vehicle mileage settings! I queried this and was then told it was indeed ‘long life’ so...

Re: 1st service

Have you checked the service information under ‘Car’ in the ‘Information Centre’?
The maintenance schedule also has codes at the front which helps to determine whether your vehicle is factory set for ‘long life’ of annual servicing. This can of course be changed to suit your driving characteristics.

Re: Add 12v power socket in boot

I fitted a rear camera around the framework, so you should be able to run a connection off your fuse box easily enough. There are simple kits online for piggy backing with inline fuses, which you need to protect the circuit. It may be possible to connect somewhere in the boot area, but I am not exac...

Re: More Satnav Map Update Problems

Had a service in July and the dealer advised its too early to expect an update yet, but should be one soon I reckon! Apparently these detailed updates are costly if done too often - wondering why they don’t just but into a third party contract so owners can pay for an update at anytime, makes sense ...

Re: Snow/mountain mode 4Drive

Yes I have used the modes quite extensively now - selecting the modes you mentioned when appropriate will retain that setting until you either change it or shut own. Last March in Scotland the AWD Snow mode was excellent and didn't even have any winter tyres on! When you change mode you can also sel...

The replacement battery is a CR2025, cheap as chips, so worth keeping one in the glovebox, just in case! This will save you going through the manual in order to start the car the other way! Still need to lever off the drivers door handle cover (using the key) to reveal the lock (look underneath)!

Re: Water under Car

I had the exact same issue - if the water is underneath, near to the centre/drivers door area, then it’s the air con outlet!
