Re: 1st service

Sounds like it's set for variable servicing and whatever wizardry determins the oil change interval has decided it needs one.

For your mileage the car should be set for fixed interval servicing. Is the car leased?

Re: Checking oil level - operating temperature first?!

So I will suggest you check it on a warm but not hot engine rather than cold. "Warm" is hedging your bets! I just looked in the Ateca manual, and, exactly as expected, it says run the car until it's at operating temp then wait 2 mins. People get in a flap about oil level. Keep it towards the top of...

Re: Checking oil level - operating temperature first?!

It's generally done hot. The idea is you'll check it at filling stations - you fill with fuel and then check the oil level, so a few mins after stopping the engine. In practice there won't be much difference in the levels between this and stone-cold - hot oil drains back to the sump very quickly but...

Re: auto parking brake

I was quite surrised when I moved my daughter's Ateca off her drive the other day that the electric handbrake released as soon as I lifted the clutch, without any gas being applied. Meaning it rolled towards the garage door! I thought you had to have feet on both pedals for it to let go. She seems t...

Re: Rear windscreen heating/demistifier ??

Sounds like you might just be pressing the top half of the left rotary button. You need to press the bottom half (with a rectangular image of a screen on it) too.

If you are pressing that, and its indicator is lighting up, then maybe it isn't working.

Don't you only need a tachograph if you're towing for business purposes?

Re: Battery acting up on a 2017 Purchase Car

We have the start stop activated and its getting used about 80km a day Tue to Friday. Its diesel xcellence 1/4 I think and guy who charged it up said happens with most stop start cars I can't find the manual to disable it as we just want the car to work up until we get mechanic to check it out on t...

Re: Tyre wear

The supply story is a bit odd - MyTyres's website says they only sell new fresh off the production line tyres. I think they even identify anything over 2yrs old. It also strikes me as unlikely "take-offs" would be two years old, as OEMs will usually only take very new tyres. Either way it's a bit st...

Re: Service schedule on new car (Service Plan purchased)

So, rang Seat UK who were useless. Put me onto Seat Financial Services who the Service Agreement is with and think I may have an answer. The “£15.99 per month for two services” agreement I signed up to online expires in four years (payments are for two years). It entitles you to one Major and one M...

Re: Service schedule on new car (Service Plan purchased)

I am thoroughly confused. They sell fixed interval services but the car tells you a variable requirement or you can be told to do a long life service based on whether you lease the car...what!!! This could also be dependant on what oil was put in it. Could this be any more confusing?? Can they not ...
