Re: Auto hold - Roll back on up hill start.

It's a brand new car though less than 1 week old so you would have thought it wouldn't leave the factory without all the updates! There a big misunderstanding in people's minds about "updates". While there are some that are done as either a recall or a service measure, dealers don't routinely do ge...

Re: Erratic dimming of Ateca displays

there is a sensor hole around 5oclock on the rev counter... cover and uncover it with your finger and you see the dash go dim and bright!! Ah - seems that's correct. The one on the back of the mirror is, somewhat confusingly, to do with the auto-dimming of the mirror. Apparently it stops the mirror...

Re: Erratic dimming of Ateca displays

Bright sunshine should make the dash go bright. Certainly our Tiguan screen looks 'wrong' sometimes, but I don't drive it all that much so not built up any pattern.

Re: Erratic dimming of Ateca displays

I looked at this before as my wife's Tiguan seemed a little random in this respect, and I've seen it commented on with other VWs - dealers say it's fine but owners with two VWs say one does it and the other doesn't. Seems to be an issue with the way the ambient light sensor reacts. Think it's on the...

Re: FR 2.0 TDI 4Drive service interval

Sounds like the car is set for LongLife servicing - the only confusion is sometimes people talk about up to 20K miles but as I understand it, the system is based in kms - 30K of 'em, so that's 18750 miles.

Max time interval on LongLife is 2yrs.

Re: Get your Mapcare in the UK Now!

I just don’t understand why! The situation about specs and options is crazy. They are removing almost all choice from their customers. Clearly it is not a WLTP problem as in the EU the availability of a large choice of options has not changed significantly since I bought mine over 2 years ago. Ther...

Re: Can't 'rotate' tyres??

Just been through my lease agreement with a fine tooth comb. The only stipulation there is, is that if the tyres are below the legal minimum before the end of the lease, then it is my responsibility to replace them with tyres of 'equal quality' as those supplied with the car. Aside from the safety ...

Re: Can't 'rotate' tyres??

With one of the companies we had lease cars off they expected 30K miles from tyres otherwise they surcharged us, so sales reps in FWD cars would get through the fronts quicker than that - rotate them and you'd make 30K. Always used to have a lot of hassle getting tyres changed too - you'd think Kwik...

Re: Can't 'rotate' tyres??

A tyre garage could refuse to change for this reason alone as the tyre industry generally recognises that it's best to have more tread on the rear for safer handling and resisting over-steer. I know this is fundamentaly correct, but I've had such grief with Costco over this as they take it to ridic...

I guess things go wrong now and again, but that's pretty poor.

Which dealer was it?
