USB C would be a very bad idea as very few devices use USB C yet . Lots of expensive adaptors would be needed and as many people use USB sticks/disks for their music that would be a disaster. without the right cables you could not charge your phone. Good idea but why not cover the boards in some old fabric or maybe an old sheet to stop the balls of crap going everywhere?
Spray glue it onto the boards.
Would also help stop it squeaking as poly' does.
