Tyre pressure - standard or comfort?

Hi All, According to the tyre pressure setting (indicated by the passenger door pillar sticker) I have 2 x options in my front wheel drive Ateca - the standard and the lower pressure "Comfort" alternative. There are clearly going to be pros and cons - I assume that "Comfort" will feel slightly softe...

Re: Keyless Entry

Cheap and cheerful solution - a Faraday bag.
Less than £5 from any number of online sellers. All sorts of different sizes available. I have now at home and one at work. Just stuff the key in the bag as soon as I get there.

Signal blocked - job done.

Update - new battery.
The good news is that nothing needs to be reset when you've bunged the new battery in.

It just works as before. Relief!

Hi Paul - the car is just under 2 years old. A replacement battery is due to arrive shortly.
I'm hoping that when I replace the battery in the key, everything will just work.

Either way, I'll post what happens here. Cheers.

What do you do when the key battery goes flat? - Here's what to do...

Out and about nice and early this morning - but the car wouldn't open. The key battery was flat (KESSY). Quite straightforward in this case: I was at home, so just grabbed the spare key and ordered a replacement battery for the main one (it's a type 2025 by the way - cheap as chips). But it made me ...

Re: 1.4 EcoTSI Manual Gearbox

Love the gearbox - light and smooth. Prefer a bit more between 5th and 6th though: there's not much difference and fuel economy at around 70mph might be better as a result?
I often shift from 4th straight to 6th.
Just a thought...

Re: Great 1.4 MPG

I've got a couple of motorways and roads near me with the dreaded 50mph average speed cameras.
A real pain, but the fuel consumption is markedly better at that speed - 55mpg or so.

Can't have your cake and eat it I suppose!

Re: Closing boot

Same here - boot needs actual downward pressure at the moment of impact or it won't shut. Doesn't need much - just a couple of fingers helping it on it's way does the trick. Or slamming it shut works as well... Dealership had a quick look at it, but it didn't make any difference. It seems to be an a...

Re: Closing boot

Same problem here: unless you give the boot a bit of muscle - or (better) making sure that you're applying a little downward pressure (fingertips does it) at the point of impact, you get a whirring noise and it doesn't engage properly. If a door or window is slightly open there's no problem - not th...

Re: auto hand brake

Word of warning with the hand brake (red light). On my first service the dealer told me of a customer who refused to put his seat belt on until after he'd driven off. Problem is that the hand brake refuses to disengage automatically until you have your seatbelt fastened. He burned his clutch out in ...
