Service and Maintenance advice.

Not that this should be of relevence to Ateca owners just yet, but someone asked me about a cambelt change on his Audi and I advised not only to check prices at independants but also to check with SEAT / SKODA as they usually work out cheaper for the exact same job using exact same parts. Also said ...

Re: Flight with Seat UK

I've had similar experience with a nearly new car from another manufacturer albeit I was the owner. You haven't included dates but from what I read it sounds like you've gone about this all wrong. 1: You're wasting your time with SEAT UK, this has nothing to do with them. The contract is between the...

Re: 2nd service - thoughts??

Depending on the damage / repair, most garages send their cars outside for repair - it's not the mechanics ability that's at fault but the issue may need specialist equipment. It's far more cost effective to send cars to a central depot with the expensive specialist equipment than to install the equ...

Re: Rear Assist and Blind Spot Monitor Issue

Hi All. Just got my Cupra Ateca last week and all is great apart from the rear assist and blind spot monitor. I have to manually activate it them every time I start the ignition in the assist menu. Then, as soon as I put the car in reverse they both deactivate with a message popping saying as much....

Re: Oil & Filter Change

First off there is no right and wrong answer - no use preaching to others when you don't know the circumstances. Oil changes used to be every 6k miles when my father bought his first car in '71 and there was nothing like turbos to worry about. My Accord was still every 6k in 1997, then they changed ...

Re: Tyre wear

If it's of any help to someone: Blackcircles currently selling 215/50/18 Turanza's (as fitted to most of Atecas) at £98.63 each ( fitted ) but if you buy 4 you get £25 discount i.e. £369.52 fitted. Seems like a good deal. You can also buy them ( without fitting ) from a place called giga-tyres.co.uk...

Re: Tyre wear

I was told 'generally new tyres have 8mm tread'. This was true for the new Falcons I had fitted soon after. However, I've had 4 new Michelin primacy 3's fitted today and the tread depth is measuring 7mm. I hope this doesn't mean I can expect less mileage from these :-( I was reading an article earl...

Re: Blind spot detection

I never said it lead to more accident, don't try putting words into peoples mouths to make yourself look clever as it fails every time. Be as offensive as you like but that's certainly not how my comment was intended nor how I read it. I have never hit anyone or anything reversing out of anywhere o...

Re: Blind spot detection

What did we do before we had this... We took care and looked. Don't go reinventing history, what we did was have accidents. There's mention above of something called rear traffic alert - what did you do back then when reversing out of a space where you couldn't see cyclists, pedestrians, other cars...
