Re: Winter wheels (and maybe for longer)

hi all, My new car is about to arrive beg Feb (hopefully). a black Xcellence 1.5 DSG 4x2 Anyway, to save some €€€ I decided to look at online stores for some alloy rims. Here in Switzerland my ATECA dealer is offering the standard SEAT Corp. set for a 17" for almost 1800€, which seems a lot to me c...

Re: Winter wheels (and maybe for longer)

I fitted some ET45 17x7.5 aftermarket wheels that I already had. They fit well on the car giving a good stance and the winter tyres would otherwise have been scrapped. Dan at AF (above) may be able to confirm that as long as they are legal and your insurer is happy to accept the modifications you ha...

Re: Cupra Ateca Showroom Pics

SO much is right about this car/trim but I just don't understand why they went for chrome tail pipes when all the other Cupra trim is black. Wheels are easily changed and I don't think those on the white car do it justice. Agree too with the £40k price point as we all begrudge paying unnecessary tax...

Re: Here's my Cupra

I have a set of these wheels in black from my other SEAT. I'm tempted to fit them to my humble Black Magic SE (black rails and mouldings) next spring. 35 profile tyres so I'll have to be careful. Might just fool someone but for me it's just a way to use up the OE Contis which I want to change for so...

Re: Tyre size advice.

At 235/55 17 the speedo still doesn't underread, matching GPS speed perfectly so you shouldn't have any issues at 225. It's also more comfortable than my equally off-the-wall 245/45 18s.

Re: Tyre size advice.

Nicer design in my opinion as it's less fussy. But it's smaller so apples vs pears. If you're trying to make it fractionally taller, increasing to 225 section width will increase the sidewall height by 55% (aspect ratio) of the extra 10 mm section width i.e. 5.5mm. Prices and options will vary with ...

Re: Tyre size advice.

215/55 17 is compatible and only fractionally smaller so shouldn't adversly affect the 4Drive. I'm surprised a Cupra wheel is ony 17", so just scheck its got the same PCD (5x112) and centre bore (57.1mm). Should be about 7J 17 to fit 215s and with an offset ET50ish. All stamped on back of spokes som...

Re: Northumberland Newbie

Welcome. I run aftermarket wheels for winter. You can fit 245/45 18 or even as large as 235/55 17 if 17s are an option and will fit over your calipers - I don’t know if they're larger on yours. A wider tyre won't be as good in the snow but you will know that it's not just about snow. Interestingly, ...

Re: Strange wear on window seal

I've seen this before. An angry bird has perched on your door handle and attacked its own reflection in the tinted glass. Annoying, but nothing you can do about it.

Re: Closing boot

This has opened my eyes slightly. As long as I can remember I've always shut tailgates by taking them to their tipping point, then using my knuckles on the number plate to push down. That way I don't get nasty scratchy marks on a dirty tailgate, and I use just enough force to avoid a slam - I just w...
