Re: New VW Manual Transmission

My gearbox is quite notchy and clunky, particularly in first and second. Even the service manager admitted it was somewhat agricultural!!! A new gearbox would be good. There’s no excuse given how good the box was in my courtesy Ibiza.

Re: Driving Modes

I tend to keep my 1.4 manual in Normal mode most of the time but flick it into Sport if I need the extra boost for overtaking or fancy a bit more fun. In these instances I find the power difference quite noticeable but the steering gets too heavy for normal use. I never use Eco.

Re: 1.5tsi EVO problems and Seat Uk response

There have been some interesting comments here regarding the Clutch Delay Valve. What does this actually do? Although this issue looks to be related to the 1.5 engine, I posted a comment some time back that I was experiencing the same jerkiness when pulling away in my 1.4. I could feel it wasn't the...

Re: Facelift?

I had my car serviced last week and I asked the guy who sold me the car whether there was a face lift on the horizon. He said that he hadn't heard anything for the MY20. Doesn't the MY21 come out in the later part of 2020? That might be a possibility. Having said this, when I mentioned about replaci...

Re: Can't 'rotate' tyres??

I went to an independent tyre garage and had mine swapped front / back at 10,000 miles with no problem. As has been said, with the Ateca it doesn't recognise specific tyres and just monitors what happening in each corner. Also, with the pressures on the 18" Bridgestone's being 36 PSI all round, ther...

Re: Tyred out

That's a good price on the Falken. Not seen that before. They were on the car I originally test drove and my actual car has never felt as smooth or quiet on the Bridgestone. I will admit that the dry handling with the Bridgestone is very impressive and I can easily get into the mid 40's with MPG on ...

Re: Tyred out

Thanks Ghiggz. I swapped my tyres around (front and back) at 10,000 while I still had plenty of tread depth. The idea being in order to change all four at the same time later on because knew I would be changing brands. I also noted that the 18" Bridgestone tyres had come down in price to around £100...

Re: Tyred out

I’m on 18,700 miles and I still have 3 - 4mm all round on the 18” Bridgestone Turanza tyres. Will change in 3 - 4,000 miles and planning on going over to Michelin Primacy 3. Has anyone else done the same? If so, was the ride improved?

Re: Start of a DSG Fault?

Last week in the Telegraph, Honest John finally opened up about what his concern is with the DSG box in these smaller engine VAG cars. He said that the 7 speed dry clutch DSG boxes should be okay so long as you don't leave them in Drive with your foot on the brake as this creates premature wear. I b...

Re: 1.5tsi DSG 2019 Jerkiness

I get a fair degree of jerkiness in my 1.4!!. I don't think it's down to the engine though. It's more to do with balancing the clutch with the revs. No other car I've had has been like this.
