Can I update my 2017 infotainment/nav, and should I??

Hi, just bought a 2017 Xcellence today and seen all the posts about downloading newer versions of sat nav.... But all the threads are about 4 years old, so is it still doable with what's online at the mo as seat website only shows updates from 2018 onward, as an example. Looks like I have an SD in slot 1 at present.

Also, I've seen people post about updating the actual infotainment itself... what does is achieve and is it worth it?

Thanks

Apologies, responses were going to my junk folder!

No, nothing wrong, I'm just aware 2017 makes it a bit long in the tooth, just wondering if I could spruce it up without it costing an arm and a leg! 😊

Hi. I endorse CosmicBlue’s advice. I went to East Yorks Retrofit to have the firmware updated so that CarPlay/AndroidAuto would work properly. Having that working well means you never have to get new SD cards (though they can be bought cheaply on eBay - VAG prices are outrageous)

The last version of the maps for your SatNav is 2110 (Nov 23 I think), which is available to download from the VW, Seat or Skoda websites. The software for the infotainment system has to be updated by the dealer.

Hope this helps.

I do find not being able to just put in a simple postcode without having to put the city and whatnot in first to be bizarre.

Any way you can just wang in the postcode and thats it, cos I haven't worked that out either yet?!
