Coolant issue

For past week I'm getting 'check coolant' error on dashboard together with red lamp. No further info provided...

It's always just after first engine start in a day.

When this happened on the first time I switched off the engine and checked the coolant level which was fine. My driveway is a bit sloping towards front so it's above max.
Another start of the engine and error disappeared so I drove off.

For few next days I was parking on level surface and it was still the same:
- first start - error
- switch off engine, switching on again - doesn't help
- open the driver door to reset system, wait 5 seconds
- close the door, switch on engine - no error

I've connected obdeleven - no faults related to coolant reported (there is a couple related to other systems eg low battery in keyfob).

Any ideas before I go to dealership?

I had the same on a cold morning last week. The coolant level was on the minimum line and I suspect the small drop was due to the coolant contracting because of the low temperature and was enough to trigger the warning. I know it's not recommended, but I added about 100cc of water to top it up and that was enough to clear the warnings. Despite a couple of windscreen-scraping mornings since the problem hasn't recurred. Looks like the sensor is pretty sensitive.
