Members of the German site are splashing out on buying the Odbeleven module that works via Bluetooth with an Android device 4.0 and above to adjust / read the ODB stuff. You need the Pro version to get maximum control and the have "credits" which I think are micro payments. Manufacture have a 40 percent off Xmas offer.

You can see what the German folk are saying under ODB

https://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=https://www.ateca-forum.de/&prev=search

The manufactuers website is this where it can be ordered

https://obdeleven.com/#section-6

or which is what I did downloaded the Android app and ordered it from there with the ring pull easy remove Pro option. Comes to £54.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.voltasit.obdeleven

The Ateca is supported

http://obdeleven.proboards.com/

& someone appears to have programmed their mirrors to drop already on the Ateca....

For the technically minded. I stumbled over the device when looking for the Galileo settings last night.

Thanks for all the research you have obviously done there Tell.

It does certainly look like a very interesting and useful device, and just as soon as someone has found the actual socket on their Ateca, and confirms that it can easily be plugged in there, then I will definitely be ordering one! :)

American site general review...

mk7 golf reverse mirror lowering video
Looks so simple to activate...
[URL=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EBOpVA5ysU]
and another here
[URL=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeGbxamn-98]

done on Ateca here
[URL=http://obdeleven.proboards.com/thread/1017/mirror-dip][url]http://obdeleven.proboards.com/thread/1017/mirror-dip

Found someone who has posted this...
So far I have had no issues doing the following to my 2016 MK7 Golf:

Enabled Passenger Mirror Dip when placing car in reverse.
Enabled both tail lights as blinkers and brake lights.
Comfort blink adjustment - Changed from 3 to 4 or 5 blinks.
Enabled Gauge Needle Sweep when starting car.
Enabled Rear Hatch Pop.
Disable seatbelt chime.
Disabled door open chime.
Read on the German site Tell linked to that you may be able to change the stop/start working range from not below 30deg to say not below 99deg, which in effect prevents stop/start system from even activating.... cant find post of anyone trying it or being successful though.. i'd be interested in that....

You can get the tail lights to do this sort of thing when indicating..

You can also set rear LED tail lights to be perm on with the DRLs...
And can turn off the cornering fog lights, which I just find weird...
Apparently you can set rain sensors (if you have auto wipers) to auto close windows when it rains..

The Ateca ODB location is here, under the light switch, on LHD atleast, so should be swapped with RHD.

The first thing I'll do is to try to fix that stop / start and the mirror dip.

I'll be able to turn off all the other satellite navigation constellations and see whether it picks up Galileo as well :).

Thanks for the other useful links Ghizzg.

The long list that was posted up on

http://obdeleven.proboards.com/thread/321/export-controller-channels-map

Is the list of bits that can be toggled with a VAGCOM so the task is to switch those bits with the device... least how I understand it. Interesting that the mirror toggle then appeared on the video. I think, haven't done it, but you could cross reference the video to the list on what they did to the mirror settings.

PS given the location of the unit perhaps you can save 10 Euros and omit the ring pull option on the order.

In the list of "Supported Models"on the Google Play App information page mentioned above (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.voltasit.obdeleven) they don't actually include the SEAT Ateca, although the Forum does imply that it is now included.

I would obviously like to be 100% sure about this before placing an order, although I am sure that it is something which will soon be taken care of anyway.

If you download the Google app it's there as per the screenshot... I'm just waiting for the device.

Another Ozzie video here on this site of how to set it up and use

https://www.autoinstruct.com.au/reviews/how-to-use-obdeleven-audi-volkswagen-skoda/

The German guys are putting their VIN codes in although Luke above didn't mention that when he registered it as part of the demo. On the support board for the product there is an Ateca thread.

I did a model selection to the above, deleting the app, reinstalling it, back to the VIN input screen, suspect that's the best way of initial set up since it will look up stuff against the VIN which you need to type in otherwise... now waiting for the postman.

& you can find the ODB connection by hand, nothing to pull off, as per the video I posted up above and screen shot below (but on the LHD), you drop your hand from the light switch, keep going and you can feel it right underneath the right dash for RHD. Perhaps the ring pull extra 10 Euros one is better to save fumbling around to remove it. I did cough up for that.

If anybody knew. I suspect when you get an update to the cars software you have to re do any changes that you made as it will all be reflashed. I'm not an expert on this but guess they would reset everything back to the defaults but if you are just changing a couple of things then easier enough to turn them back on or off again. You wouldn't change anything around the cars engine management for sure.

I suspect only Ghizzg and myself have ordered it unless anyone wants to come forward.

I didn't realise at first that this was an option, as it isn't mentioned on their website, which I where I first placed my order.

Shortly afterwards I sent them an email, asking if the 'extraction ring' could also be included.

I was therefor rather surprised this morning, to see that my entire payment had been refunded, and on sending them a further email I was advised that the 'ring' was only available when the order was placed from within the App. However even after I had installed it, the option was still not shown!.

Off went another email to Germany, and I was asked to try again, as this additional option would then be shown... as indeed it was!

Not quite sure what happened there, but my order is finally placed, and I will now be interested to see when it actually arrives... sometime after Christmas, I guess!

Do we know yet if they are sent by the 'normal' postal service, and will therefore presumably be delivered by Royal Mail, or do they use an independent courier, and if so, which one?

In Germany they were using DHL. I have a tracking number for mine today via PayPal which is what they said on the Web, so that came throu. However the tracking website didn't work too well on Firefox Android but fine on a PC. It's coming from Lithuania via Lithuania Post but will be delivered by Royal Mail... whether they are striking or not sure. The German Ateca site said distributed from Lithuania so no surprises there.

Glad you got the ring pull sorted out. I expect you can put a cord on that and pull off which will be down. Some people say you can keep them plugged in, others say they run the battery down. The question is whether the port remains live or not when the cars stopped, the lights drop and the infotainment goes off, certainly the 12 volt socket and usb go off. The lazy way would be to leave it in and pull out when it goes into the garage. Possibly more Googling on that one. I suppose if you loose contact with the device after power off then it's actually powered off and isn't still draining power.

The German Ateca site said they were good at answering questions so they sorted out your order.

Thanks Tell... I also received an email from PayPal this morning, confirming that mine had been dispatched.

As you say, it implies that they will be delivered to us by Royal Mail in due course, which suits me better than a courier, as we have a good relationship with our regular 'postie', who (if it won't go through our fairly large letter box) knows the best place to leave it if we aren't 'at home', or else she will hang on to it until we are!

I would think that it will be after Christmas now anyway... assuming that it doesn't get lost along the way, amongst all the other festive parcels! :)

Mines is still showing at a sorting centre at Vilnius, I'm hoping to see it pop up in the UK but not yet. Although could disappear off Royal Mail tracking and just arrive. Been there since Monday.

So who has ordered it then, just us two. I know Wiz2003 has shown an interest turning up on the support board. I'm trying not to mess up the car before Xmas.

Mine arrived at the Sorting Centre today also, so it is probably expecting a bit much for it to arrive before Christmas... not that I will be here anyway, so will keep an eye on the tracking in the meantime.
