Hey guys, help please!!!

I downloaded maps for my Ateca an hour ago and I was dumb enough and clicked on format SD card before doing backup of old maps. Now everything is gone. Can anyone please share their overall.nds file as now all I get is "navigation database not available".

There's lots on here about this, but inshort you're out of luck

Each overall.nds is matched to the SD card it came with (we believe the file contains the serial number of the SD card hidden somewhere), so noone else's overall.nds will work on your SD card - you'll need a replacement SEAT SD card (which will have it's own overall.nds) either new of secondhand and upgrade

Oh my...

I got overall.nds from a forum member and I'll try it tonight. I've found few topics with similar case to mine and overall.nds file helped them, so I'll give it a try. Thanks.

sorry to hear, but it does fit our understanding of how it works

You might be able to find a SEAT card on EBay or similar - doesn't matter if its an old version as you can upgrade once you have the SD card with its match overall.nds (Saving it first of course)

Just given this a go myself as I had some time on my hands. Downloaded the full Europe map as that seemed a better match for what I had - looking at the original case from when I got my car almost four years ago, it lists most countries in Europe, but is labelled Europe 1 (V4). It just about squeezed onto the original 16GB card,
The process seemed quite straightforward thanks to the instructions on this thread, it's just time consuming as the download took the better part of an hour, although that gave me ample time to copy and remove files from the SD card. I did try opening the OVERALL.NDS file, but couldn't make sense of it.
Getting the files onto the card took around 45 minutes, although early on it was quoting over ten hours due to starting with lots of small files, While I know the system is shared between VW, Skoda and SEAT, it was slightly surprising to watch folders for each going onto the card given the card and packaging are branded SEAT.

I went from 0730 to 1310 but if I'd taken the basic Europe 1 option I'd have gone to 1410 - perhaps 1410 with the full maps would have gone over the capacity of the card. Most of the time I drive roads I know, and often use Android Auto when I don't, so for me this is more about when I trade in the car, having a recent update will look better than having the original version.

I gave up on SEAT nav system. I just use Google maps or Apple maps using CarPlay. I can't see any point in using the SEAT system even though I get free updates via Mapcare as I live in Spain.

I just updated maps from 1115 version to 1430. However, after doing all the steps I am left with a screen thats says "Checking navigation data" and it stays like that no matter what. Unmounting/*mounting again, rebooting doesnt help ... What could be the problem? I downloaded the Europe 7 maps from seat website (it was 6gb). Could the problem be that I need more maps (all europe, or others) or is it something else?

Edit: reverting back to original maps works just fine, navigation loads up after 15 seconds of this same screen. However ,new ones just keep loading on this screen "checking nav data". Tried waiting for 3-4 minutes to no avail.

Okay I managed to get it working with new All Europe maps. However, when I check the version information under Setup, its doesnt say that 4 digit number. It was 1115 before updating. Now its blank except one sentence which says shield information bla bla 2016 and something. Shouldn't this be 2020 with new updated maps (1430)? I should note that I haven't replaced "overall.nds" file with the original one. Could this be the problem, but then again, navigation seems to work...

Hi Epiceptus,
sorry much to assist you except that the 1430 release of the maps is something like November 2019. I haven't seen any updates since then.
A helpful user named Bedlam may well leap to your assistance though ;-)
Cheers

I would suggest you copy your original NDS file to your updated card and see what happens.
Did you reboot the MIB 2 unit?
BTW is your vehicle a UK registered one?

Yeah, I've copied original nds file. Its just that one file right? And I'm not from UK...
Maps work just fine, its just that I dont believe it did update from the original one, since one roundabout that I know should be there is not.
What do you guys see when you go under nav-setup- version information?
Do you see that 1430 number?

All SD cards have a CID or Card Identification Register, which includes a MID or Manufacturer ID, this is what is needed for a card to work with the SEAT navigation system. Any VAG group SD card should work, some Skoda branded ones are now 32Gb. Generic non-VAG ones will not work, this code is 'burnt' into the card and cannot be changed.

If you lose you overall.nds file, you need to find one that is v4 or earlier, then save that file and reuse it when upgrading to newer navi versions.

Navi versions beginning with 5P are 'AS' versions or MIB 2 and are different from Navi versions beginning with 5F, which are MIB 1. If you have a 6P or 'AS' system, you should stick with the same when upgrading.

Sorry, I made a mistake, I should have said 'Navi versions beginning with 6P are 'AS' versions or MIB 2', corrected below, fat fingers!!

Can anyone advise on the info below for UK owners ?

MapCare is not available for UK vehicles. Please note that the only way to update the Sat Nav is through the purchase of an SD card from an authorized dealership.

No this isn't true, it's easy to download the correct map from the Seat site and update the existing SD card, providing you restore the original overall.nds file after updating the card.
