I'm thinking of tweaking my Ateca a little bit to make it even more perfect. I want to tweak my car via Vagcom modifications.

Maybe Tell has some kind of list of all the options?

At least thinking about:
- disabling beep sound when closing tailgate handless
- video while driving
- ambience light always on (Doors and feet)
- automatically close sunroof when closing car

Those ones are all possible in principle either mentioned on the German Ateca board or listed off on site discussions about Vagcom programming on other models which should carry across. The ones that won't carry across I suspect are the weird light flashing ones that Golf 7 owners do. Ateca lights are pretty enough as it is.

You will only get the video on if you have the Navigation Plus obviously. As for doing it yourself, it depends on your basic computer understanding of words, bytes and bits to do the long coding although it appears relatively easy. The car is divided into modules so you program each module by toggling the bits. They are sub systems so you are changing how the subsystems work. You are not really programming the module but the setup data the module uses to perform it's tasks once it reads these codes which it runs on its own program.

ODBleven which wraps somethings up in additional micro payment apps only has two at the minute, one is the video on. Golf 7 they have many. Although you can long code with it which essentially what you do if you have the Vagcom device. Being VW the language is German. Trailblazers for the Ateca, there aren't many at the minute. Depends whether you want to do it yourself, go for a low cost option like the ODBELEVEN with an Android device, more expensive option or farm it out to someone.

The German Ateca thread I indexed on ODBeleven thread although they are updating it so it's needs re translating. The actual technical stuff may be better documented elsewhere.

I have a fondness for Australians on technical matters so Ozzie threads on the subject are good. For the ODBELEVEN the Vagcom native instructions have to be translated into how to do it with the menus. If you start off small etc.

Next I'm going to look at auto stop start.

When Wiz2003 gets their device and Daesimps gets their car we will have a stronger DIY base :). See Daesimps thread

Thanks you so much for this Tell!! I'll check the forum for all the mod options.

Even though I work as an IT consultant my knowledge doesn't go this far I'll be able modding my car by myself. I've just got of the phone with a Vagcom specialist in my area. Next week we'll have a look together what options are available for the Ateca.

You've gained my attention by saying you want to enable ambience and foot lights always on. Are they not on when the engine is running?

Seeing I don't have my car yet, I assumed when it mentioned the lighting it'd be like my Octavia, where the foot lights are always on unless you turn them off in the menu (you can choose how bright they are)

It seems the ambience light is depending on sunlight just like the dashboard. Depending on detection of sunlight the Ateca will increase or decrease the door and footwell light.
When the car detects full sunlight it will turn of the doorlight and footwell light.

Terrible explanation I'm sorry, but I hope you'll understand.

Makes sense. Not too bad then, I presumably you wouldn't notice the lights in the day

I have seen Vagcom stuff talking about this so I expect that's the override. It's the stop start is my bug bear. It will be what I will try out next.
