It was raining heavily the day I picked up the car and got stunned when I first used the wipers - the wiper blades are very loud and it doesn't clean well as if the wipers belong to a B-reg Ford Escort.
How can the wipers operate that badly in a brand-new, 1 day old car? Has anyone experienced this?

Sure they didn't leave any polish on them / wax. Possibly you may need to apply loving care to the blades and the glass. Mine have been fine as Saggy says.

I don't have a problem with the wipers, but there is a time-lapse on my water jets that is very frustrating. The left one comes on immediately, but the driver side only comes on a few seconds later. Given it is the drivers side of the windscreen that I need to send out of, I find this really annoying; especially in winter when you are using them constantly. Is this just my car or everyone's?

No problem on mine, Ford ! However, I do really dislike on cars when the blades wipe before any water hits the glass, just moving dirt & grit around. Can't be beyond the wit of manufacturers to build in a slight delay to let the wash water hit first, surely :?: :lol:

No problem either, however what does bug me is how the wiper doesn't wipe to a horizontal point on the drivers side (UK model) it runs at a slight angle increasing as it runs up the windscreen away from the A pilar
Possible that the blades may be duff ring them up and tell them you want new blades, after all you just bought a new car from them!

No issues with noise here or clearing the screen, but I also notice a good second or two delay in washer fluid coming out every time, when pulling the stalk back..

It sounds like a Prostate problem. You could try putting a suitable herbal remedy in the washer fluid. I understand Saw Palmetto is pretty good.

That is how mine seem to be but the delay between is minimal

Headlights then screen yes. Sure the assumption isn't to clean the muck first then spray although a bit perverse. Get the rain water off, detergent on etc. Assumes they are wet in the first place thou. You get the front headlight water going everywhere so that might have a bearing of final wipes from the windscreen wipers.

I prefer the wipers on the altea that came from the pillars than the normal wipers on the are a that's the only complaint I have against it

The Altea design was smart and tidy. Stopped street windscreen leafletting putting things behind the blade but a sod in snow. I might have said that on the thread above since a clump of snow would build up on either pillar, blades would be crashing about after about 30 minutes of heavy snow, pullover clear them out and set off again. Repeat as required. A memorable journey back from Luxembourg like this with cars spinning off the road behind, well only one. Bit odd to see that in your rear view mirror headlights spinning round in the road.

I need to rtfm, I know, but how do you get the wipers to sit mid-screen so you can lift and wipe them?

It's in the manual p60 under changing the wiper blades.

The wiper arms can be raised when the wip-
ers are in service position ››› Fig. 78.
● Close the bonnet ››› page 282. ● Switch the ignition on and off.
● Press the windscreen wiper lever down- wards briefly 4 ››› page 25.
Before driving, always lower the wiper arms. Using the windscreen wiper lever, the wind-screen wiper arms return to their initial position.

not got headlight cleaning on mine but there is always a delay of about 1sec from pulling the stalk to any fluid hitting the screen.. every time..
its like the fluid drains back down the tube and doesn't sit ready at the nozzle or something...
