Blue Lava with silver bits

Post by NeoVector » Tue Apr 18, 2017 6:06 pm

Think I've finished adding bits to her now. Mud flaps, side trims, front trim and now mirror caps.

Looks good like the side trims very much adds more style.

Looks Great! :)

Glad I bought the side trims already as I think Seat have now grouped the exterior trims so that you have to buy the Sports Styling pack to get them and that costs a fortune and includes the bumpers and side trims. Did you have any problems trying to get them to stay on? Assuming of course you fitted them yourself?

Trickiest bit was fitting them straight as once they touch the plastic they're stuck.

Preparation is paramount. I washed the area, used alcohol to clean any residue then 3m plastic adhesion promoter to ensure they will stay on. Cheapest I could find for the adhesion promoter was through eBay from a seller in Poland.

Lovely. Smart. Be it away from the gaze of the evil eye. (That's how we wish well when something is new or outstandingly beautiful :) )

Did you fit the mudflaps yourself? If so, how easy was it (or not) - did you need to remove the wheels for access?

Fitted myself, you need to drill holes (only into plastic parts of the car) to do so which is a bit unnerving on a brand new car but instructions were easy enough to follow.

Wheels do need to be removed for access, I have a spare wheel with jack so had everything I needed to do it. Took me about 30 minutes a corner, I took my time, measured many times before drilling and ensured the surfaces were cleaned properly and used plastic adhesion promoter to ensure the 3m tape stuck properly.

I'm surprised you had to drill - most cars these days just need plastic dummy plugs removing

Yeah did make me think twice about whether to fit them or not. My previous car, a kia ceed just needed two existing screws removing and a push fit type fastener removing then put the mud flap in place and refit the screws and push fit fastener through the mud flap back into the existing holes.

But at least with three screws and three push fit fasteners on each mudflaps for the Ateca they're not going to fall off! Lol.
