Steering "creak" - any ideas?
Re: Steering "creak" - any ideas?
Hi Den48. Good news! I'd be interested to hear if you feel it has addressed the issue and if yes, whether you could share the warranty/tech report info of relevance which might help me to push my dealer!
Re: Steering "creak" - any ideas?
Hi
There isn’t a technical report as such, the parts replaced are showing on a no cost warranty invoice, namely the anti roll bar an left hand drop link. They haven’t referenced the replacements against any technical report but against me commenting on the noise.
When the dealer contacted me with an update they acknowledged the noise but weren’t sure what it was so they ordered 3 different parts , anti roll bar, drop links and a third part that I can’t remember, I believe they used a process of elimination to effect the repair.
Because of the current situation I don’t really know if they have cured the problem that was much worse in dry hot weather, however when I collected the car and drove the 17 miles home the car felt noticeably tighter at the front in a good way and there was no noise at all.
Time will tell, but from the feel of the car I believe the problem is sorted.

Thanks Den48! Fingers crossed its sorted! Out of interest, who was the dealer that did the work?
Re: Steering "creak" - any ideas?
The work was completed at Bristol Street motors, Seat dealer in Derby
Out of interest the car was called back by the dealer to have a four wheel alignment check carried out where apparently all four wheels are checked together , I understand it’s a specialist bit of kit ,a hunter machine , the check had to be carried out at vw in Nottingham. They seemed keen to get it completed ASAP though .
