Glove box

Post by Qwerty789 » Sun Dec 16, 2018 8:59 pm

I know this might sound odd, but I could do with a quick sanity check about how the glove box opens...

I'm racking my brain as I can't remember either way but I could have sworn that opened gently, with a smooth gradual action. Of late, and definitely after it came from from second annual service, it doesn't do that - if you flick the latch without holding it the door will crash to the lowest position with a bit of a bang, having free-fallen there.

Can anyone check me on that? If something sounds wrong, any ideas as to what....?

Just checked mine. flick the catch and it lowers itself gracefully down to its lowest position. probably some friction device slowing it down, cheap and simple

Had to open glove box on my Ateca FR to get to the fuse box
and there is a limiter arm that has a friction device to allow a smooth opening
it looks like it is easy for the limiter/friction arm to pop out if its not put in right.
