No problem with Auto Hold here...

If using with stop/start, a little dab of the accelerator (like a gentle blip off the throttle) a second or so before you want to set off (e.g. when the lights change to red and amber) will re-start the engine, then just accelerate smoothly. If you floor it then yes, it will be *far* less smooth...

Doesn't just giving the steering wheel a tug do the same thing?
Ordered March 20, 2017: 1.4TSI Xcellence manual in Rodium Grey. Extras - heated screen, SEAT Sound / Spare Wheel. Delivered and picked up on June 22, 2017 :D

Yes steering wheel wiggle does re-start - I use this method most of the time if I've not turned off start/stop.
Also if ACC is ready/active that will detect car in front moving away and start engine

Yep, a wiggle works as well. Call me paranoid but I always feel that puts unnecessary strain on the steering linkage components...

This is one of the improvements over my previous VW with ACC and I really like it!
