Brand new but sounds like a Subaru

Post by CalumAngus » Thu May 09, 2019 9:56 pm

New to forum, new to Ateca. Please be gentle....

Had my Xcellence 2.0 TDI for 10 days now. Thought I had some kind of exhaust issue, though, as particularly going up through low gears, there’s a really throaty Rev-sound from the mid- part of car. It’s there a little on idle...

Called the dealer to be told by Product Genius that Seat make their transmissions that little bit sportier, something to do with compression blah de sorry, lost me. Not convinced, I took it to Kwik Fit... nothing wrong with exhaust system mate, move along now, just ‘new car’ noise.

So... has anyone else noticed this in their Ateca??

The 2.0 diesels aren’t the most refined engines. Sounds like your hearing normal diesel sounds.

The 2.0 petrol's don't seem that refined either.
I've had a 2.0TSI for just over a month now and keep thinking it sounds like a diesel, especially at tickover.

When I first went to VAG diesel it was with a 64 plate VW CC , I was quite pleased with the sound of the exhaust/engine when putting foot down , Tiguan biturbo was similar , by contrast the petrol in the FRS is just so smooth and very refined .
FRS Velvet Red. Collected 17/1/20 Replacing 2018 Tiguan SEL Bitdi 4motion DSG , Replaced 2017 Leon Cupra.
