It does seem to be a significant alteration.

Danwill17 does yours have the alterations? Is it the seals holding the water?

I recall that some way back along this thread someone actually approached SEAT with this 'fault' and they confirmed it was designed as a 'wet' area and therefore shouldn't rust any quicker than anywhere else. It is unsightly but only when the door is open. I tend to brush it down when it's dry and vacuum out the persistent bits.
Ordered March 20, 2017: 1.4TSI Xcellence manual in Rodium Grey. Extras - heated screen, SEAT Sound / Spare Wheel. Delivered and picked up on June 22, 2017 :D

I don’t understand why so many people are worried about this. All you have to do is wash the inside of the doors when you wash the car (which you should do anyway).. What’s so difficult about that?

Also, since 90% of buyers seem to be on a 3 year PCP deal, why worry about it?

I have just bought my Ateca and straight away have this issue. I wish I had seen this forum before my purchase. I will not be buying another Seat. :(

What a ridiculous reason for not wanting to buy another SEAT. On that basis you will never buy another car if you are so picky about tiny issues. Your are not the dreaded Tell in disguise are you?
