Yes, I had noticed that, however, the dirt and grit trap still exists at the bottom of the door. That's still open to the elements so not sure what the extra rubber strip actually achieves.
Ha yeah mine has those rubber strips too - which does erm nothing except get the dirt stuck behind them...! For me i clean the car most weeks i just make sure i open the rear doors and wipe the dirt off - not a biggy as long as you keep on top of it i suppose.

I am concerned about this very emotive word, "corrosion" and recall, in my youth, several cars that had an early death on the market due to this problem. I am intrigued to know how a draft excluder would help and would appreciate a little clarification. I have had my Kuga TX for 5 years now and have never had a problem with collecting muck. One reason for this could be the presence of a mudflap to the front of the rear wheel, which catch anything that flies off the wheel.

It is not, as the picture indicates, touching the wheel, but the underskirt rarely gets dirty.

That's why you have a 12 year corrosion warranty.

I'm beginning to accumulate dirt and grit in the bottom of the rear doors but most of the time I can get it out with the vacuum cleaner. What I did notice was that, after heavy rain, the water can too easily get in through the rather large panel gap over the rear wheel arch and the inner arch is covered in water. There's no outer seal. Not sure if it's come off the road or is trapped condensation. Not noticed it on my previous cars.
Ordered March 20, 2017: 1.4TSI Xcellence manual in Rodium Grey. Extras - heated screen, SEAT Sound / Spare Wheel. Delivered and picked up on June 22, 2017 :D

What you need to do is put a small bit of black draft excluder roughly the length of the bottom door trim (just a bit past the rubber that SEAT supply) of the last few months has kept the inside of my door perfectly sealed. Will take a photo and post car in need of a good wash in the moment so pretty dirty

Are Seat UK still denying that this is a problem - as they did when I wrote to them?

Would this affect the FR as well given it has different body skirts and wheel arches? Or is that just wishful thinking?

I took my ateca to the dealers who then sent off a technical report to seat. Seat said that the areas in the attached photos are designated wet areas and they are not concerned about them. I guess I can sleep easy now
