Thanks for the tip Welshman, were you happy with the result of it being done?

I will have a look over the weekend if there is somewhere good near the Woking area.

Sheepygooner,

I asked my detailing guy and he said that they would class a three month old car as "reasonably new" and would adopt that status when detailing. It is never too late he said, but urged that you get it done before it is 6 months old, but to do it sooner than later.

The detailer has completed my car (now four days old). It has had much done to it in the last 7 hours, whilst it sat, bathed in sunshine on my drive (mobile detailer). The whole process Interior, exterior, wheels, Rain-X, snowfoam, clay clean and Lifeshine cost me £195, etc. etc. which, compared favourably to the dealership's quote of £340 for the same treatment.
I am very pleased with the end result, but when the photo session started the sun left my drive for other areas, leaving the car in the shade of my home, so the shots are a bit dark, for which I apologise profusely.

Hi there, I have always used Autoglym products on my cars, I have the Ateca excellence in Nevada White and use bodywork shampoo to start with and aqua wax the car while its still wet then give the car a good second buff using Autoglym polishing cloths, a lot of people might think that Autoglym and other quality cleaning products are expensive, but just think what you paid for your car.

I am having the car (3 days old) detailed tomorrow (6-8 hours' work). He asked, purposefully, that the dealership NOT clean the car at all. The process, which seems thorough, according to the detailer, is:-

Engine bay cleaned & dressed
Door shuts & sills cleaned
Alloy wheel deep cleaned using a non acidic wheel cleaner & various detail brushes & sealed (wheel removed and cleaned)
Alloy wheels polished and high temperature sealant applied
Bodywork bathed in a pH neutral shampoo using a deep piled wash mitt
Bodywork dried using a plush microfibre cloth
Tyres degreased and a long lasting tyre dressing applied
Wheel arches deep cleaned & dressed
Exterior Pre-Wash
Snowfoam deep shampoo of bodywork, rinsed and dried
Tar removal treatment
Fallout & Iron removal treatment from manufacturer
Clay Bodywork
Hand Polish Bodywork
Engine bay clean, degrease and dressed
Metal & chrome cleaned, polished & protected
Interior and exterior rubber & plastic trim cleaned & dressed with long-lasting sealant
Exterior Glass polished and rain repellent applied to all exterior windows
Specialist Carnauba wax applied to bodywork
Additional ceramic sealant applied
Leather deep cleaned and upholstery protector applied
Boot spare wheel location deep cleaned
Interior windows cleaned & anti-fog treatment
Air-Conditioning cleaner treatment
Screen wash re-filled if necessary
Interior d eodoriser applied.
Total cost £195

Seat Ateca XCELLENCE 1.4 Eco-TSI 150 PS 7-speed DSG-automatic Petrol Estate in Rodium Grey and with 19" Machined (black & Chrome) alloy wheels, Convenience pack, Xcellence Pack, Heated windscreen, Advanced Comfort and Driving Pack Plus, decorative Pack (red), silver mirror caps, tailgate trim, silver bumper protector, mud flaps (F & R), styling pack (with red inserts), SEAT Sound System, Silver Cross-over decals, Powered driver's seat, metallic paint, and double floor.
-Specialist Carnauba wax applied to bodywork
-Additional ceramic sealant applied

Those two are back to front, and the ceramic sealant is compromised if this is the case.

ArnP,
Thank you for the caveat , but I hope that the order he gave me was not the order in which he did the jobs. In fact, I am quite certain of it for he did a lot of the interior first and then some bodywork and then back to the interior again. I will, however, ask him, for he is a friendly guy.

Car looks great, I hope the lifeshine is doing it's job, thanks for this post, I didn't know about Alloygators, deffo going to fit those to mine when it arrives. My last two cars have had lifeshine treatment, I got the dealer to throw it in to sweeten the deal, but I totally forgot about it this time round, so may go your route and have a mobile guy do it if I can find one locally

Hi

So with the lockdown getting all the choirs done and car washing one of them that kills time. Got a Karcher Power washer and tried it last week with Karcher shampoo but now out of stock. I am no cleaning / car expert as would go to local business to get this done

Now looking to try it during this time but there are so many products out there and so many You Tube videos etc. I dont want to spend a small fortune so just want are the main products I should get ? Dont want all bell and whistles as car is used daily and builds up bird crap and muc regularly . Something to get it looking good for the weekend..........when per Murphys law it will probably rain :-(

Read this thread and also going on Halfords website but its trying to decide whats the best

All suggestions welcome as what else is there to do in these Crazy times

What exactly are you looking at getting?
Decent shampoo and a decent wax to protect it ?
