Any one into keeping there ateca clean them
Shelfs or take it to the car wash. What products do u use if u clean ur self. I have always used autoglym. And snow foam gun myself I do enjoy keeping it looking nice. Was gona get sum of the aqua wax after the next wash any one used it?

I'm a Autoglym fan myself. I use the Aqua wax on my wife's car (Mazda) as she has paintwork protector fitted by dealers. It comes up shiny with minimal effort and doesn't matter if you get it on unpainted plastics or rubber.

I prefer using Super Resin Polish on my Ateca though as it gives a superior shine to aqua wax, more effort but worth it in my opinion.

I use the two bucket method and a noodle microfiber mitt for washing and always rinse off with rain water to avoid streaks.

Does the aqua wax (spray) not go on after the polish. Been looking at vids on YouTube very sad ha ha. I gave are car a quick wash and polish the other day came up Loverly. Was looking at the aqua wax for the water beadding to stop water sitting on it. Also use rain x in the windows. Need to get a better wheel brush to get in to the back of the wheel

Woohoo someone else loves cleaning there Ateca. Mine gets the full treatment every two weeks :D

I also use a foam canon and the two bucket wash. I really like the auto finesse products they work well with my white paint work. Autoallure shampoo is also good has no added waxes etc.

Yes, wax should be applied AFTER polish

Need to try get the love of cleaning back now I've got a new car but it's hard as you can't wash in the direct sunlight and some of the products are super expensive. Just cost me about £200 for those bits plus the 2 buckets with grit guards

Definitely, but does need washing first to remove grit and dirt again and the car needs to be wet to apply the aqua wax. Or you can use extra gloss protection, described as a sealant rather than a wax or polish.

Not sure which gives the best result though as only used the sealant after polishing.

Hello Dave 143

Autoglym Aqua Wax should be used after you've washed the car and it's still wet. Spray Aqua Wax all over the wet car then buff it off with a microfibre cloth or two. It's a really good product.
Meguiars Ultimate Waterless Wash andI Wax can be used directly on a dirty car. I was apprehensive on using such a product on a dirty car, but it really does work if youve no water or need a quick refresh too

I am having the car (3 days old) detailed tomorrow (6-8 hours' work). He asked, purposefully, that the dealership NOT clean the car at all. The process, which seems thorough, according to the detailer, is:-

Engine bay cleaned & dressed
Door shuts & sills cleaned
Alloy wheel deep cleaned using a non acidic wheel cleaner & various detail brushes & sealed (wheel removed and cleaned)
Alloy wheels polished and high temperature sealant applied
Bodywork bathed in a pH neutral shampoo using a deep piled wash mitt
Bodywork dried using a plush microfibre cloth
Tyres degreased and a long lasting tyre dressing applied
Wheel arches deep cleaned & dressed
Exterior Pre-Wash
Snowfoam deep shampoo of bodywork, rinsed and dried
Tar removal treatment
Fallout & Iron removal treatment from manufacturer
Clay Bodywork
Hand Polish Bodywork
Engine bay clean, degrease and dressed
Metal & chrome cleaned, polished & protected
Interior and exterior rubber & plastic trim cleaned & dressed with long-lasting sealant
Exterior Glass polished and rain repellent applied to all exterior windows
Specialist Carnauba wax applied to bodywork
Additional ceramic sealant applied
Leather deep cleaned and upholstery protector applied
Boot spare wheel location deep cleaned
Interior windows cleaned & anti-fog treatment
Air-Conditioning cleaner treatment
Screen wash re-filled if necessary
Interior d eodoriser applied.
Total cost £195

Sorry if this is a stupid question but what is car detailing? My Ateca is now 3 months old so can I not have it done on the car now. Been looking for the last few days of what to properly clean it with and give it that showroom shine.

Been looking at Autoglym or Meguiar's can you share your thoughts and views on either and what else you need.

This is my first proper car so want make sure I look after it.

Would that scratch the paint if not washed first ?

I, too, was new to the term "detailing", believing it was a "pimp-my-ride" type of service, but no, it means a thorough cleaning (various degrees), a wax, followed by a protective layer (Autoglym, Meguiar's or Diamond Brite) and perhaps a ceramic gloss finish, according to choice. My son, who is a lot more knowledgeable than I suggested that I have it done properly a.s.a.p. after taking ownership (three days ago), advising the dealership not to clean the car at all (they tend to use chemicals which do more harm than good). I'll take a before and after photo tomorrow. I have not had this done before, so it will be a new experience. I researched various detailers and the cost varied a great deal (£110 - £380); I chose the £195 option following a recommendation by a friend.

Getting mine detailed in a few months but am using a chemicalguys honeydew snow foam and Gyeon bathe plus shampoo and a Gyeon q2 cure as required to keep the hydrophobic coat up after the detail
Would you recommend the Gyeon bathe? And is this the one with SiO2 added.
Not sure without looking it up as haven't ordered it yet, it was just recommended by the man doing my enhancement detail. For those curious about what a detail is have a look at the below, this is the man I'm using but there are many good detailers out there.

Sheepygooner,

I asked my detailing guy and he said that they would class a three month old car as "reasonably new" and would adopt that status when detailing. It is never too late he said, but urged that you get it done before it is 6 months old, but to do it sooner than later.
