Need to try get the love of cleaning back now I’ve got a new car but it’s hard as you can’t wash in the direct sunlight and some of the products are super expensive. Just cost me about £200 for those bits plus the 2 buckets with grit guards

It's expensive but once you have a good selection it lasted you ages unless your a wax addict and buy different ones.

I did wash and wax mine with autoglym
Super resin polish the other day would I be ok to use the aqua wax on it with out re polishing it? Would I need to give it a quick wash first

Definitely, but does need washing first to remove grit and dirt again and the car needs to be wet to apply the aqua wax. Or you can use extra gloss protection, described as a sealant rather than a wax or polish.

Not sure which gives the best result though as only used the sealant after polishing.

Also depending on the colour of your car determine if you use a sealant or wax
White and light colours use a sealant
Black and dark colours use a wax.

Hello Dave 143

Autoglym Aqua Wax should be used after you've washed the car and it's still wet. Spray Aqua Wax all over the wet car then buff it off with a microfibre cloth or two. It's a really good product.
Meguiars Ultimate Waterless Wash andI Wax can be used directly on a dirty car. I was apprehensive on using such a product on a dirty car, but it really does work if youve no water or need a quick refresh too

Getting mine detailed in a few months but am using a chemicalguys honeydew snow foam and Gyeon bathe plus shampoo and a Gyeon q2 cure as required to keep the hydrophobic coat up after the detail
Would you recommend the Gyeon bathe? And is this the one with SiO2 added.

I am having the car (3 days old) detailed tomorrow (6-8 hours' work). He asked, purposefully, that the dealership NOT clean the car at all. The process, which seems thorough, according to the detailer, is:-

Engine bay cleaned & dressed
Door shuts & sills cleaned
Alloy wheel deep cleaned using a non acidic wheel cleaner & various detail brushes & sealed (wheel removed and cleaned)
Alloy wheels polished and high temperature sealant applied
Bodywork bathed in a pH neutral shampoo using a deep piled wash mitt
Bodywork dried using a plush microfibre cloth
Tyres degreased and a long lasting tyre dressing applied
Wheel arches deep cleaned & dressed
Exterior Pre-Wash
Snowfoam deep shampoo of bodywork, rinsed and dried
Tar removal treatment
Fallout & Iron removal treatment from manufacturer
Clay Bodywork
Hand Polish Bodywork
Engine bay clean, degrease and dressed
Metal & chrome cleaned, polished & protected
Interior and exterior rubber & plastic trim cleaned & dressed with long-lasting sealant
Exterior Glass polished and rain repellent applied to all exterior windows
Specialist Carnauba wax applied to bodywork
Additional ceramic sealant applied
Leather deep cleaned and upholstery protector applied
Boot spare wheel location deep cleaned
Interior windows cleaned & anti-fog treatment
Air-Conditioning cleaner treatment
Screen wash re-filled if necessary
Interior deodoriser applied.
Total cost £195

Sorry if this is a stupid question but what is car detailing? My Ateca is now 3 months old so can I not have it done on the car now. Been looking for the last few days of what to properly clean it with and give it that showroom shine.

Been looking at Autoglym or Meguiar's can you share your thoughts and views on either and what else you need.

This is my first proper car so want make sure I look after it.
