Hi everyone,

I know we have the very useful Lead Times thread that has been present as buyers have patiently waited for their Atecas.

I thought it may be useful to gather people's info from their dealerships regarding what impact WLTP is having on them.

I have just ordered a 1.4TSI Ateca and have been advised that it will be 22+ weeks.

What have you heard and read?
What will WLTP mean to us?

Interested in your thoughts and opinions!

I spoke to my dealer and they said they had no info on my order being delayed and are expecting it early to mid August.

Hmm 8 weeks Freddie. The dealer this week when I ordered basically said 16 weeks and an extra 6 for the 1.4 tsi, now you never really know how much is absolute fact!

Warthog, That's great news regarding no averse news. Fingers crossed for you.

I wonder what the outcome will be when they have tested every conceivable combination of car, trim, engine and options. Everything could continue exactly as it has been, I wonder if some combinations will be phased out. I also wonder where that 1.5evo engine fits into it all too especially for us in the UK.

SPOKE TO SOON
Have just been told that SEAT are not confirming orders due to WLTP and I am likely to be pushed back 6-8 weeks now expected late September.
Let's hope for an Indian summer so I can use sunroof!

I ordered my 2.0 TDI 4drive SE Tech on April 27 and was told by SEAT UK and my dealer that it was build week 24 which is this week. SEAT UK advised me when I phoned up 2 weeks ago for an up date to phone back Friday 15 June to confirm that the car has been built and they will give me an estimated delivery date. I have not been advised that the WLTP is affecting my spec of car.

Here in The Netherlands I placed an order on the 5th of june and was told manufacturing would start again in october and delivery in mid november at best. (FR 1.5 DSG)

Pretty sad about it, but nothing I can do.

In the UK we can only place orders for the 1.4 eco TSI not the new 1.5 but I am quite happy with that as it is a proven engine

On my orderconfirmation is says 1.4 TSI, but the dealer told me it will be the new 1.5 TSI which is already been used by Audi and the VW T-Roc.
It has the same power output, so it doesn't really matter to me.

I take it the fuel consumption is lower on the 1.5 compared to the 1.4? It can be by much though. Anyone known if there will be a refresh between now and then? I noticed the arona uses a more vw like infotainment system than the ateca would seem logical to me that they could add that to the ateca at some point.

After scouring Skoda forums and SEAT Spanish forums I am also expecting that although I ordered a 1.4TSI I will most likely receive a 1.5tsi. Unless of course, that it is deemed the Teca gets the last ones available. I'm happy either way given the 1.4 is proven and the 1.5 is in the Karoq and now some VWs and other VAG cars.

Hi. I placed my order during the first week of May this year (UK). I've just queried the delays re WLTP with my dealership and they have written saying that my car is built and currently on route to the port. I should have it within 4 weeks. So the 12 week prediction should be about right?

I ordered A 2L petrol (190) DSG auto

That may be an issue for me as one of reasons I got the FR version was to get the sporty 1.4 engine and trim rather than the SE Tech.
The1.5s engine is available in two states of tune, a 128bhp BlueMotion that returned 58.9mpg on the EU Combined cycle and can get from 0-62mph in 9.1 seconds. The more powerful 148bhp version, which is currently on the Golf GT and R-Line Edition produces its maximum power between 5,000-6,000rpm, while peak torque stands at 184lb ft between 1,500-3,500rpm. This version will produce the sub-8.5 second 0-60mph time that the 148 bhp 1.4 engine currently used in the FR supplies. So if they swop will have to make sure it is the 148 that they fit.

And reading reviews of other VW group 1.5 fitted types I think I will prefer the 1.4
I also ordered a 1.4. I read on another forum that orders for the 1.5 Ateca will open in late 2018.

I assume the 1.5 is the same engine that's in the VW T-Roc. I have been reading a thread over on the the T-Roc forums about the 1.5 kangaroo issue some owners (11 people in that thread) have experienced, someone also said that it's been noticed on the 1.5 Skoda Karoq too. It's also on the honestjohn website (about the 1.5 T-Roc) and it mentions there have been reports that the 1.5 Golf and Ibiza have same problem.

I ordered the 2.0 TDI 4drive SE Tech on 27 April and it was built w/c 11 June 2018. Seat UK told me on 15 June that it had left the factory and was in transport on the ship to the UK. Should be at the dealer 3-5 weeks the lady said, but I have still not heard a thing from the dealership. Not to even say it's been built. So will ring Seat UK for an update to see where it is as my seat Leon is being used as PEX but not been called in to do the finance stuff yet. Then it's a visit to the dealership to sort the old car out.

May I ask did you give Seat Uk your details or did the dealer I ordered mine on the 27 April.
Have sent an email to my dealer and they say still no more information as to build date or any idea of ETA

I didn't contact Seat for my updates. Dealer kept me informed when it moved from being built>built>on road to port etc.

New emissions rules will change how options are sold http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/news/159872/new-emissions-rules-will-change-how-options-are-sold

Under WLTP, the individual options fitted to a car will factor into the test. Each and every option will be given a CO2 figure, largely influenced by its weight, aerodynamic penalty or the amount of power it draws from the engine. This will impact heavy items such as panoramic sunroofs and larger alloy wheel sizes in particular.

While it doesn't spell the end of individual options as such, a model could have hundreds - or thousands - of different CO2 figures depending on the number, type and combinations of options chosen.

SEAT is one carmaker that offers lots of options and told Carbuyer it would sell options "slightly differently" in the future, starting with the new SEAT Arona SUV. One potential route could be selling more option packs, or ensuring new models are sold 'fully loaded' with kit - reducing reliance on the options list.
Could explain MY19 details.

Edit:  oops I only just realised this article was from last year, so may have already been read.

I phoned my dealership and asked for the official Seat UK order number, then I phoned Seat UK direct as Seat Blade in Bristol are useless in keeping in contact with you, its ok when you want to purchase the car but as soon as you placed your order they are a nightmare for keeping in contact. They promise fortnightly updates and in 9 weeks all I have had is 2 emails.

I phoned Seat UK 15 June to be told that my car has been built and is in transit, they said it was on the boat and should be with the dealership in 3-5 weeks. As yet I am still to hear from the dealership for them to confirm that the car has been built, I will give it to Thursday then I will phone Seat UK to see if the car is in the UK and then it will be a trip down to the dealership on Friday to ask for an update from them.

I would personally ask your dealership for your official Seat order number and phone Seat UK direct they are so helpful and really polite, no question is to much of a bother for them to help.

Off topic i know, but i went to Blade Seat last week as they were the closest dealership that had a 1.4 DSG that i could test drive. Such poor customer service. Arrived at 11 and didn't get in the car until 3:30 because the car had a puncture and it took then 4 hours to fix it. Needless to say i didn't buy a car from them. Drove back to Cardiff and ordered my Ateca from the dealership here.
