Adaptive Cruise Control

Post by Goldstones2 » Wed Dec 05, 2018 7:41 am

Am waiting for my new Ateca. I used to have a Skoda Octavia with ACC and wasn’t overly impressed, but this was a few years ago. Would appreciate anyone’s comments on their opinion of the ACC on the new Ateca. Thanks.

It's the first time I've had it and I'm loving it. I use it in all sorts of situations, not just motorway cruising.

Very easy to use and after getting used to it doing all the braking, I have great confidence in it. With DSG it's amazing in traffic.

Agree traffic assist and motorway roadworks speed limits are the best use case I think. It’s great overall but pretty useless without DSG.

I also love the ACC and use it all the time.

Initially I expected to be covering the break peddle just in case, but soon swapped to covering the throttle peddle as it can be a bit over cautions ,
(ie a car pulling off to a slip road it sometime breaks until they are fully clear)
Now I'm used to it I don't cover either peddle so I can respond to either need

Agree you really need an auto box in today's congested traffic, I use it all the time

It's a much improved system. Like others, I use it every trip, even in town.

It's been discussed a couple of times, but in this thread I gave some tips (on page 2) on how to get the best from it. This was before I had my Ateca, but at the time I was driving a Touareg that had ACC and the Ateca system has some improvements but otherwise operates exactly as outlined there.
