Engine tuning 1.5TSi question

Post by Gunnar » Thu May 21, 2020 11:32 am

Hi folks,

Whilst whiling away my time in lockdown, and putting hardly any miles on my Ateca 1.5TSi Excellence Lux. Purchased 1 week before lockdown!

I was wondering if anyone had used a 'TDI Tuning' box on their 1.5s and whether you noticed a difference (good or bad) with the extra 30-40bhp?

Cheers.

keep thinking about doing this. could do with a smoother supply of torque in my opinion.

I would suggest you contact a real car tuner for the job and not these tunerboxes. It cost the same and you get a better tuning.
I have had my 1.4 TSI DSG (150HK) tuned to 180HK/320Nm
Rhodium Grey, 1.4 DSG, Virtual cockpit, adaptive cruise control, navigation etc.

I am in Denmark.... A lot of companies to choose from.
I used Thomas Landberg (chiptuning.nu) who is a well known car tuner.

Its a lot snappier now..

Greetings to Denmark MBM, thankyou for your advice and experience.

I appreciate that a proper engine tune would be a better permanent solution BUT my car is new and I do not want to invalidate my 5Y warranty. Hence why I'm interested in a tuning box which can be removed and leave no trace during servicing.

Good to hear that you notice the torque increase on your 1.4. I believe the tuning box with the 1.5 increases to about 184BHP/306NM max, but can be stepped down to save fuel.

I'm just putting feelers out at the moment until I've 'run' my engine in....which is proving difficult during the UK lockdown.

Cheers,
Gunnar.

Accually with the Thomas Landberg tuning.. You get a device (UtuneII) to plug in via OBD. So you can just reload the org. file back into the car if you like.

1.5 is petrol so TDI tuning box no good. not many maps about for 1.5 yet given all the softwear driving they had from factory

Hi,
The company I'm looking at (based in Chelmsford, Essex) do boxes for both diesel and petrol. They have maps for a wide variety of engines/vehicles including ours.
Cheers,
Gunnar.
