That's it Kindness and the price I recall was about £120 or so. A bit pricey. The other thing is and I could be wrong, you may have to take the seat out to fit it. Pretty sure the seat would have to come out. There is an advantage in not having it on the passenger side that you can get more right under the seat. That's where my second car blanket goes given the space limit in the boot of the 4Drive. Now that could be a hidden or discovered gem. Use that blanket to cover footwell stuff up when on holiday with the car. Your boxes of wine do fit nicely under the seats and in the footwell, cap it with the blanket.
Yeah reading further down that thread looks like it's not something you could not do yourself and very expensive.

This is the parts site which doesn't as yet list the Ateca.... think this is all part of the Ateca parts problem

This is a parts Ateca site that I have posted up before

Seems to be the same an an Ibiza, bolted from underneath

Left is a QN1 which brought me back to this when a Swedish member of the board posted their parts list in September :)

While I have been waiting for my Ateca to arrive I have watched nearly all videos on Youtube so there were no many suprises but what I really like for example is that the steering wheel unlocks itself when the start button is pushed. I also like the engine - 1.4tsi. As a owner of Leon 1.8tsi I am surprised that the 1.4 tsi engine looks as strong as the 1.8 tsi but I have a feeling the dsg makes it look more powerful.

Resurrecting this topic since I've found out a couple of things on the Ateca that I think are quite nice / interesting:

1. The light/mirror combination on the sun visors - if you have the cover slid open, the light is only on when you have the visor aligned to be able to see your face. It switches the light off if you pull it closed as you might expect, but also if you push it forwards - which is the nice bit! Not seen that in other cars before. So there are 2 ways to switch of the light - sliding the cover or push/pull the visor.

2. If you have the rear camera fitted, it has a little nub on the housing - and this scooshes the lens when you activate the rear wash wiper, giving it a bit of a clean! Only seen this applied to higher end cars so did not expect it on the Ateca!

If anybody else has found / discovered good bits about the Ateca that they would like to share, this is the thread to help others 'discover' them.

Thanks,

Mike

Thanks, Mike. Nice to see the thread resurrected! Still loving just about all aspects of my Ateca. Wasn't aware of these gems!

I had that on my Golf MK6 about 8 years ago. So not particulary new feature on VW cars.

Hi Tet70,

I've only had one other VW group car (Skoda Citigo) and it didn't have a visor light (not even a cover on the mirror) so this is the 1st car that I've experienced pushing the visor forward to switch off the light.

Previous cars from German manufacturers didn't have this feature either.... hence why I posted it here.

If you look inside the front door bins, you will find that past the reachable parts there's space for a pocket umbrella, which tucks away into the door.... You would never guess the Ateca is built in same factory as the Skoda Superb would you?

Need to check this when I get home later on!

I used to have a 2004 Audi A3 that came with the full 'lights' pack. That had the lights in the visor even back then but it wasn't standard. Although the light came on when the mirror screen was pulled back, it only did it when the visor was in the correct position. It managed this by having the electrical contacts in the visor hinge so that contact was made at the right point. Simple but effective.

It's interesting that the Audi had the 2.0 FSI engine which pumped out the same BHP and torque as the 1.4TSI does now. The 1.4 engine was a big draw for me because the Audi had superb in-gear performance and the 1.4 felt very similar (on the test drives anyway - still waiting for my one!)
Ordered March 20, 2017: 1.4TSI Xcellence manual in Rodium Grey. Extras - heated screen, SEAT Sound / Spare Wheel. Delivered and picked up on June 22, 2017 :D

Unless you fill that gap with something i think the likes of a pen knife tool will slip down into that gap and be hard to get out!
