Moving to Skoda

Post by Nikkijamie » Sun Oct 18, 2020 6:34 pm

Sadly due to the lack of options I’ve just ordered a Karoq 1.5dsg sport line and will be part exchanging the Excellence.
Really liked the car and only covered 17k in 3 years but the few options on new ones forced my hand,
Hopefully should be getting it late December to avoid any extra costs due to a potential no deal brexit

Just what options are available on the Karoq that you cannot get on the SEAT?

Mainly the upgrade sound as the standard is horrendous, which is funny as on the continent you can still get this.

Isn't the upgrade sound standard on some models in the new lineup?

Not on the Fr sport I don’t think, wasn’t aware of it being added to some of the other models though.

I have decided against renewing my Ateca to a 2020 facelift because I wanted a combnination of the following (UK):
- Electric, memory seats (Leather)
- Wireless Carplay
- Top-view camera
- Upgraded sound system.

You can't get that combination here. So I bought a wireless carplay device and will only miss out on the memory seats by keeping my Xcellence.

You gould get that combination and more with a Skoda Karoq.

I guess at the higher VAG level they won't care - they'd care if you went off and bought, say a Ford Kuga or whatever.

I have mixed feelings about SEAT's strategy here - looking at used models of this type of car, it's rare they have any options other then metallic paint (which or course, unusually, is standard on Ateca) and the number of people who load up on expensive options like memory seats and top view must be absolutely tiny. So slimming down the options should make new cars more easily available - whether that's happened or not, I don't know.
