I believe that if your insurer offers a full replacement deal for total loss of a new car within the first year or so, this may not apply to a pre-reg car as it is not considered to be a new car.

Check carefully.

My insurance from Aviva offered a replacement vehicle in the 1st year, but there was a clause in the terms stating this was only if the vehicle could be replaced within 28 days... Knowing the lead times from SEAT, I thought it wise to buy separate gap insurance.

Annoyingly, when my insurance was renewed, this clause had been removed...

I've just looked again and the replacement vehicle cover is applicable to pre-reg cars, as long as they have done less than 250 miles.

Mine was a Peugeot 3008 2013 vintage 2.0 l D Manual Allure. with Panroof.

In some ways a much more practical car. But I wanted 4WD Auto, so lost a split floor and a bit of boot space and afar bit of storage inside.

Ford Scorpio 2.9 Cosworth. Luxury and speed when called for.
Had every conceivable gadget on it.
Even got pulled over on the Autobahn in Germany, spotted overtaking taking Porches the cops couldn't figure out what the car was .
Was told to follow their car to a rest area, where upon opening the hood they saw the the Cosworth engine and it put their mind at rest.
It was a lovely car but started to playup in EMC area hard to find parts.
But has gone to a good home with an enthusiast.

Had issues with VRs mainly due to lots of short journeys commuting etc, including replacing costly EGR valve. Decided on a petrol, wanted a SUV and was very impressed with Ateca. Quoted 5-7month wait for a 1.4 or 3-4 weeks for 1.0, quite impressed on test drive and went for it. Will consider a 1.4 next time round, our other car is a Kadjar which has more space, a bigger boot which we use at weekends and holidays.
What are you impressions of the Ateca compared to Kadjar? I am hiring a 1.3 Kadjar (68) while waiting for the Ateca (1.5)
