'Real mpg' websites suggest you'll get 75% of published mpg for the 1.6 TDi Ateca... 63 becomes 47 based on real world mpg submissions.

I always take manufactures mpg figures with a pinch of salt. If I can get 40 mpg from a average car I'm happy, anything above is a bonus.

People are too hung up on the published MPG, we’ve known for years these are Lab tests, and to take it with a pinch of salt.

I currently have a 1.6 tdi bluemotion tech VW Golf, doing 24k a year.

I average about 52-54 mpg per tank, but it can be as good as 64 and poor 48.

It really depends on the driving style, roads, routes etc.
I also found the Eco mode was the most inefficient.

Still waiting for my Ateca, as I’m leasing to replace a company car. But always aim to keep the MPG as high as I can to benefit from the fuel allowances.

According to the latest study (including 1.1 million vehicles), the real world CO2 emission (which related directly to the fuel consumption) was 42 % higher than published official figures in 2016, in average.

Checked tyre pressure this week, all good- still 39 mpg on the average computer.
I think I’ll call Seat to check it out, what’s the point in a new (ish) car doing less mpg than a £200 mondeo!

Had my 1.6 diesel se tech for 1500 miles now, driving a mix of roads (through town, motorways, country lanes at different times of the day) and the long term average is 54.7 mpg. have filled up with Shell and Asda fuel as they are closest forecourts to me.

That would make sense, as the lab tests for the fuel efficiency are higher than real life, the co2 will be higher in the real world as they are related directly to fuel consumption!

I get about 45 on average. It's not great, and worse than my previous diesel car, but I'm not too fussed.

I'm considering a tdi racechip for it to give it some punt. The 1.6 is absolutely lacklustre to drive.

I'd be interested to see how the chip goes, generally the 1.6 suits my steady driving but there's no surge there when you put your foot down. Overtaking is a bit hairy!
