AKS 3004 and factory fit towbar

Post by Phantom » Tue Jul 31, 2018 7:54 am

I am trying to place an order for an Ateca with a factory fit towbar. Has anybody out there tow a caravan with the AKS3004 stabiliser and a factory fit tow bar combination. I've heard that the clearances are a bit tight.
That is the distance between the centre of the ball to the face of the bumper and/or the length of the neck. Feedback and/or dimensions would be greatly appreciated.

No problem here... I'm towing my tin shed home on the 8th, so I'll take a picture when I hook up and post it.

I have a factory fitted to my carand there is no problems with the clearance of the tow coupling. There is an issue with the electrics in that Seat do not see it a problem to cut the power to terminal 9 when you start the car. This should be permanent live and causes the caravan ATS stability unit to frequently fault. I will have to get this rewired at my cost to work correctly. If you have an ATS unit on your caravan get the dealer to sort this.

Thanks for the response. The Alko ATC system supply on my current car is a permanent supply but does go off when the car is started which has not been a problem with my ATC system and car combo, not a SEAT I hasten to add. I did have a problem when the supply developed a intermittent and repeated supply interruption. This did cause the ATC to show a red light which cleared after being on a hook up pitch for 4 days
Have made a few phone calls It should not be a problem re stop start if it is then disable stop start if the system does no do it automatically when the 13 pin plug is pushed in

No need to rewire, just switch off Start/Stop when you are towing! It's not like it's going to make a huge difference to the MPG when you're towing anyway!

It's not so much about fuel economy. It's more about the AL KO ATC system , not wanting to trip out the ATC after a stop start traffic jam.
