Annoying noise from door rubber seals

Post by michaelmilano » Mon May 06, 2019 11:59 am

Hey guys,
Any of you have a noise coming from the rubber seals of the window. Front doors only. The upper part of the rubber and the other soft material is the cause.
It's rubbing against the metal and creating this uncomfortable sound. Like something is being squeezed against something and a rubbing noise.
Happens when the car is on a rough surface or the body is twisted. For example when getting on a curb or doing some kind of off road driving.

I'll try to take a video with the sound. Our local dealer heard the noise and told me not to go off road or twist the cars body...mmm...ok.

Seat Ateca excellence 1.4 dsg 2x4

Thanks!

did you clean in around the door openings recently?
Sounds like rubber squeeking against paint to me.

Hey, nothing special really.
But i think you are right with the description.
I do wash the car every other week in a car wash. Didn't notice a difference in noise level before and after

Try some silicon spray on the rubbers.

Clean the rubber seals and the body parts where body seals get in touch when door is closed. Should do the trick.

I've had this on and off on nearly all the cars I've owned over the years and talcum powder always cures it. It did it on the Ateca when new in February 2018, so I dusted the seals with talc and there's been no recurrence. Only thing is, don't do it on a windy day – it goes everywhere!

I’ve used this on all my door and boot seals for years and thoroughly recommend it

Nextzett-91480615-Rubber-Stick-White - it’s available from Amazon for around £10 for 1 stick or can get 2 for around £13
it goes quite a long way and is very effective.
