SEAT Store Lakeside Shopping Centre

Post by Furion » Fri Jul 12, 2019 12:23 am

Has anyone had experience with SEAT Lakeside shopping centre Thurrock. SEAT have a shop in the main mall with a couple of cars in the showroom, there is an experience centre where you can test drive cars including a Cupra Ateca in Rodium Grey . BUT I don’t think they have a service department, has anyone used this dealer for a service ?

According to SEAT website, Lakeside is sales only.

Bought mine there as they had exactly what I wanted in stock so no months of waiting, experience was great, very helpful, nothing to much trouble. Everything else has been carried out by my local dealer without any issue, including replacing a broken switch 2 days after I bought it, no issues at all.

My nearest dealer is WJ King in Sidcup, it’s not far just pain to get to from this side of the river.

Lakeside do have a good stock of cars and no doubt with MY20 round the corner there will be some deals to be had with the MY19 stock.

I haven’t got a build date for mine yet, last Monday I asked them to add electric seats and read this week on the forum it may be standard fit for MY20.

What I am finding a little frustrating is if you ask them to add an accessory, i asked them about side steps, they can’t fit them only supply (£475) so i would have to go somewhere else, Sidcup in my case to have them fitted, expensive for side steps, I was thinking they would be around £350ish fitted, I can live without them.

As I live very close to Lakeside I looked at this place, and even had a test drive from them. But in the end found a much better deal elsewhere. I think its a convenience thing, prices a little more, but saves you travelling as no SEAT dealer close by.

I originally went to Lakeside Seat, it’s only 20 mins from home. Then found a much better deal at JCB Ashford so got my car there, the hour drive home was great. I’ve since had two issues, had to go to Sidcup within the first month for breaks that wouldn’t stop squeaking and I didn’t want to diy in case my diy didn’t fix the issue and I get blamed. I’m going again next week because of kangarooing and high revs in second gear. It’s a pain to go to, I wish there was a seat authorised garage nearer

Heard good things about Lakeside for the retail experience from colleagues that were shopping for an Ateca and a Leon. It's not a sales team with sales targets - they're there to help you and no hard push (or that was the original premise), which also means there's no haggling on price. I ended up getting my Ateca elsewhere through CarWow simply because the price couldn't be beaten.

For servicing I make the trek to Sidcup, which is miles away for me (pretty much 45mins+ in good traffic). I limped there one day in my old Ibiza on a Saturday lunchtime when the alternator died and even though the service hours were over nothing was too much trouble, they checkws the car, confirmed the obvious fault and gave me a courtesy car for 5 days. All within about 10 minutes. They even re-opened the service desk especially for me when I got caught up in an M25 closure trying to return the courtesy car and was running late.

They are what you'd easily call a 'small' dealers - those of you that have been will know what I'm talking about (they're tiny). The service guys have always been very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. I've never been fobbed off.

That's my personal experience of the Sidcup garage - your mileage may vary, but I've been very happy to keep returning for my car servicing and maintenance. Having had a few nightmares with a couple of other dealers in the past, once I find a good dealer I tend to stick with them, even if it takes me slightly longer to get there.
Now driving: Ateca XCellence 1.4 TSi in Rhodium Grey with XCellence + Advanced Driving Assistance Packs, Double Boot Floor + Space Saver Spare - Ordered week 9, confirmed built week 26&27&28, arrived in UK week 30 - Collected 1st Sept 8-)

Agreed Lakeside are excellent for the retail experience, i've been dealing with Shelly she is an absolute star, extremely helpful, nothing is to much trouble. Thanks for the WJ King feed back, i know what you mean about finding a good garage and sticking with it, i used to take my Touareg to WINDRUSH Maidenhead, 120 mile round trip, but my nephew was one of the master technicians there and had a lot to do with it, but apart from that they were always fantastic .

Good to know that Sidcup is ok, having bought my Ateca now not really sure where to take it for servicing. Surprising there isnt a proper dealership in Essex.
