Thanks

Well the 4WD system and transmission (DSG) is selectable for various modes and conditions, it uses the haldex clutch and ABS sytem to apportion power to each wheel in slippery conditions and the ground clearance is OK, so the only limiting factor will be the tyres.

It'll be as good as anything else without fully locking diffs.

Winter or Snow tyres would make it very capable indeed. Youtube is your friend!

Yes, the tyres are a key factor and maybe more important that the 4WD. There is an interesting Youtube feature comparing cars with different tyres trying to get up an indoor ski slope. As it turned out, a front wheel drive car with winter, or even just all season, tyres on did far better job of getting up the slope than a 4WD car with summer tyres.
Ordered March 20, 2017: 1.4TSI Xcellence manual in Rodium Grey. Extras - heated screen, SEAT Sound / Spare Wheel. Delivered and picked up on June 22, 2017 :D

I had a 2017 Tiguan 4 motion , a week after taking delivery we had heavy snow and must say it was very sure footed . However it was on Pirelli Scorpion Verde tyres which I rated very highly. My new Ateca FRS on 40 series tyres that look much more just like car tyres I don`t think would fair so well. Our TT is a Quattro and on Uniroyal tyres that copes well in the snow too.
FRS Velvet Red. Collected 17/1/20 Replacing 2018 Tiguan SEL Bitdi 4motion DSG , Replaced 2017 Leon Cupra.
