FOB Key Not Recognised

Post by funkyirishman » Thu May 14, 2020 4:43 pm

Ok why does this happen during lockdown

We have Auto start key and lock and walk up to car and can open driver door while key in pocket and then press the stop start button and walla

However coming up with error on the dashboard key not detected. So got diagnostic report and saying low voltage. Changed the battery and also tried spare set keys and same issue

So back to opening/Closing and starting the car manually

No dealers open here till Monday 18th and wonder what the queues will be like

Any other suggestions or just grin and bear it

I know the feeling. TV remote stopped working during lockdown.
I now have to ask the wife to walk to the TV and change channels.
Humilating for me.

But while doing so I did find out she no longer works at Woolworths.
So every cloud.

Ok not the replies I wanted but Humorous

Just trying opening the car with screaming kid easier with FOB working. Have to bring it back to dealer to see if they can do anything if they do open Monday as Mechanic cant do anything

Whatever they have to do to the key to reset it fair enough just wondering how it happens or if anyone else had same experience

I had a similar thing happen. Changed the battery and no difference. It came down to the make of battery - the cheapo pound shop one was no good so I tried a Duracell and it worked. The battery had gone flat in the spare too so I changed that for a decent battery and that worked fine. I keep a spare in the glove box now.

Change and fit a good brand CR2032 vs the 2025. Just about will fit in the case and will last longer as they are thicker batteries
