It first went into standby showing the clock and no buttons would respond and shortly after went through the usual reboot cycle. Sometimes not even passed the Seat logo before restarting.
Did this about 10-15 times before it came back on and stayed on.

I bought my 72 plate Ateca FR Sport in March, its been back into the garage 7 times for this issue. It's had a replacement reverse camera, numerous software updates and resets and the issue still happens. It's actually in the garage as we speak. Screen doesn't come on, does come on and doesn't work, volume wont work, reverse camera doesn't come on screen (sensors work fine), screen resets, "radio" selector button doesn't work on screen, screen sticks on "please wait" for a full journey and wont switch off/reset, plus a few more things.

I'm getting a replacement Control Unit which should solve the issue, but I had to send hundreds of videos to my dealership to prove the issues I was telling them about as the part had to be authorised by head office. Part on 1 month back order but they believe this part should solve all my issues. We'll see.

Good luck with yours!

I may be guessing here but when it does stay on for longer than ten seconds as soon as it shows the world symbol top right as if connected to Seat it will instantly go off.
Other times you’ll get the seat logo with the radio and then it will reboot.

Setting off home from holiday this morning, 120 mile journey. Switched the engine on and the system went into a loop. This is the fourth or fifth time that this has happened. I reversed out on to the road ........ no rear-view camera! Set off hoping that it would settle. It didn't! Stopped, got out and shut everything down.Tried to switch it off, then tried to hold "off" button for 15 seconds. All to no avail. Got back in and still in a loop. Parked up for 5 minutes then started up and fiddled with the buttons! I got the sat-nav maps to show so I left it alone and drove home. On the way traffic information came on so I knew that the system was now working. Then 5 miles from home I confirmed this by changing from Nav to driving info. All was back to normal.

There was no obvious reason for all of this. I will contact the dealer when I get time and see if they have a solution yet. Very annoying!!

Hi, Has anyone got any experience of these two updates that I've just been offered by my dealer please?

91EQ– update on infotainment screen for issues rebooting etc.

91FH – another one for screen issues

Thanks

I would add my own experience if I may.
I collected my ATECA FR on 19th September this year, so less than 1month old. I have the Infotainment issue on it too. It crashes and reboots (ought I to be grateful for the reboot?) , quite frequently and without any pattern or warning. Once, twice, per day is now expected, though last Wednesday during a trip of 7 miles, the damned thing crashed 14 times!
I spoke to Motability, who own the car it is and they agree to allow the dealership an opportunity to find and correct the fault, which is pretty much an impossibility.
So, the car will be rejected, Motability have agreed. with 329 miles recorded this is unacceptable. Unfortunately after a 9 month wait for this one, I can look forward to a further 3 months for a replacement, it most certainly will not be a VAG vehicle.
As a matter of interest to one member of this forum, the Infotainment system WILL crash either with or without SEAT CONNECT operating. It was the first thing I thought of and so disconnected it and deleted the app off my iPhone.
The issue DOES exist across VAG vehicles using this model of Infotainment system. .yes all of them VW AUDI SKODA and of course SEAT.
I would say that the fault does not lie with the dealers but is directly attributable to VAG, another scandal in the making perhaps?

Thank you for this informative post. I hope that your new car suits your needs better.

And yet my 21 plate car hasn't had a single issue and I believe some other owners also have trouble free cars.

Excuse me, but how do you check the software update version? Some days ago, my system performed an automatic update, but the software is still in version 0841. Thank you
Yes, that's the update I received the other day, and the system crashed for the first time in weeks the very next day! 🙄 I don't think we will ever get an update saying "this fixes the random reboots issue", as that would be admitting to the problem.

I've had my Ateca FR since September 19th this year (2023) it went back earlier today for inspection due to the infotainment/satnav crashing continuously.
Purely by chance seat have ISSUED A RECALL & I was met with a great welcome by the service staff at Bristol St Motors, who say that SEAT have acknowledged a fault and issued an update (yesterday) I am one of the first to benefit, my system had an update/fix today 17th October 2023. So now we'll see if its worked. But at least the fault has been acknowledged by SEAT. Its a dealer only fix by the way.

I get rebooting loop few times per week. I noticed that system is crashing very often when I am using buttons on left side (volume up/down, go to navi, go to phone, turn off). Usually turn off button is not working at all...

I have had this problem for the 12 months since picking up my new Ateca at the end of November’22. It has since been back to two separate dealerships 5 times without any resolution. Last time was a week ago- not rebooted since then so fingers crossed. The dealers have said that all Seat will allow them to do is to update the software, this seems crazy as it obviously isn’t fixing the problem.
It seems that we are expecting too much nowadays if we think that the new car we buy will work properly!!

Just got a new Seat Ateca FR 2.0 4Drive.

I was trying to figure out the likelihood of people NOT having any infotainment issues at all?

Obviously, a lot of folks here and on german forums have rebooting issues, but is there a "silent majority " that don't have any/only minor problems?

I see so many new (post facelift) Seats around and struggle to believe that the majority of people driving them have to deal with constant system reboots?

Only Seat, if anyone, know the true scale of the problem and whether all the bugs have been fixed. If numerous forums covering the range of VAG brands are all consistently complaining then the issue was/is definitely serious. Speaking personally, the infotainment system in my Ateca purchased new in June 22 suffered numerous rebooting problems in the first couple of months. One year later l get the occasional glitch but overall the infotainment system is now reliable enough for me to consider it fit for purpose. The current infotainment sytem MIB3 was introduced approx. two years ago, so l therefore expect that with software updates, hopefully recent new Ateca owners will not have to suffer the scale of issues early adopters experienced. If just one Ateca owner has to suffer the stress of driving in an unfamiliar city in rush hour and without warning, lose satnav, it is one too many as it both scary and dangerous. I know because it happened to me.

Let's hope you're right!

I can absolutely relate to what you said above. I purchased my first Ateca 1.0 in May 23 and constant reboots were a weekly if not daily struggle. It wasn't until a second update in September which made the infotainment work without any issues.

Me getting the 2.0 4Drive was due to other reasons, mainly my increased need to drive long distance and sometimes unsteady conditions where 4wd is the way to go. Nothing to do with the infotainment though. However, the new car I purchased being a September 23 model, I still worry if I am plagued with the issues my "old" Ateca had.

I'm afraid that we can no longer expect flawlessly working cars, though I do sincerely hope that they manage the problem and limit blackscreen reboots.
