Use Cut and Paste (Windows: Ctrl-X; CTRL-V) instead of overwriting.

Just don't forget to copy from your ORIGINAL map this file this "MAPS/EEC/EEC_WLD/OVERALL.NDS" or your navigation will break.

I was disgusted by a 30K vehicle being supplied with 2 year old sat-nav data, particularly as 20mph speed limits are now all over London. I wonder why any fleet user would buy this!
Anyhow, as SEAT-UK could not/would not provide a remedy - it speaks volumes as to SEAT's Customer attitude,- I posted a thread on 23AUG19 (about 13 or so pages back).
Almost the first response was from 'Bedlam' who set out clear, step by step, instructions which I saved and printed out.
When VAG issued an update late November, I re-visited my notes, printed out Bedlam's instructions, read them TWICE, and then proceeded, ticking off each step as I progressed.
Worked first time!
I now appear to have '1430'.

Trying to understand the process for updating maps.. Do I need to delete or remove the original maps and the NDS file from the SD card, or just download and unzip the new one?

Copy the full contents of your sd maps card to a safe place on your PC ? Laptop.
As above ^ find your file Overall.nds and copy it to several places so as you wont use it, save it to cloud, email it to yourself.

Download the New maps and unzip them to a folder on your desktop.
Locate YOUR ORIGINAL overall.nds file . Copy it , Paste it into MAPS/EEC/EEC_WLD/ in the downloaded updated maps, It will ask you do you want to overwrite the old one. YES.
Remove sd card from PC and insert to slot in Car.
Check it works and then check it is the updated version.
For safety I kep't my original maps on my laptop *just in case*
